TERRORISM INSURANCE COVERAGE is not specifically excluded in most standard insurance coverage forms, but many companies exclude both domestic and foreign terrorism by endorsement. Under The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) it is required that coverage be offered but the client can accept it, refuse part of it, or refuse all coverage. Whatever decision is made, an endorsement is issued explaining the coverage and how the backstop provisions of the act will respond. At the time of this writing, the terrorism backstop is based on the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2015 (TRIPRA) that extends federal backup coverage until 2020.
